A pedagogic library with nearly 300 books, audio and video documents is available to French teachers in Suva and in the Fiji islands.

How to teach French grammar?
On Thursday 19th June, 7 teachers from Suva attended a workshop conducted by Mary Gendrot at the Alliance française. The topic of discussion was "How to teach French grammar to students?".

Marine Planté and Mary Gendrot were in charge of a new training at the Alliance française de Suva on Friday 23rd May. 10 French teachers have come together to think about different animation techniques in class. They have also discussed the importance of the English language in the French language.
Working along with a textbook
On Thursday 24th April, 7 teachers from Suva participated to a workshop at the Alliance française. Conducted by Claudia Donardin and Mary Gendrot, this session focused on using a communicative approach to teach French and working along with a textbook in the French class.
Innovative supports for the French class
On Monday 31st March, 9 French teachers from Fiji Islands (highschools, USP and Alliance française) and Miss Tupou Pasikala, French teacher at Tonga Highschool (Nuku’Alofa, Tonga Islands) were invited for a workshop conducted by Mary Gendrot, language coordinator at the Alliance française. How to include innovative supports such as comic and songs in the French class were the topics of their discussion during this session.

On Saturday 29th September, the Alliance française de Suva hosted 8 teachers to a morning of DELF training (Diplôme d’Etudes en Langue Française). Facilitated by Sophie Rankin, lecturer at the University of South Pacific in Suva, the objective of this training was to certify all teachers as examiners of the DELF exams.
The teachers received accreditation from the CIEP (Centre International d'Etudes Pédagogiques), which is the Paris based organization responsible for these exams.
Students of UNC in Suva
As part of the language assistant exchange between the Fiji Islands and New-Caledonia, the Alliance Française de Suva hosted 5 undergraduate students (in English and Modern Literature) majoring in French as a foreign language. The students came from the University of New-Caledonia (UNC) and were in Suva from the 22nd to the 29th September. The students were observers at the University of the South Pacific and in high schools around Suva where French is taught. They also took part in teaching at the Alliance Française. In addition they met people from the French speaking community of Suva (expatriates, French Embassy staff, and former French government scholarship students). Mr Michel Wauthion, lecturer in Linguistics at the UNC, was part of this trip and presented a seminar on “francophonie” in the South Pacific on Monday 24th of September.
