The Alliance Française of Suva offers French classes for all walks of life and all levels, at any time of day. Our teachers are specially qualified to teach French to persons to whom French is not a native language. Programmes have been devised for each teaching levels, and French manuals are used for all classes. Term III 2010 commences on Monday 6th of September and ends on Thursday 25th of November. Listed below are the different course levels, fees and duration . You will be required to fill out your registration form stating the level you are interested in and the days of preference. After receiving all the registrations forms, we will assess and inform you on the final timetable plus the confirmed classes that will open for the Term. Please note, that depending on registrations, we will open only certain classes. Please note that classes for children only begin on 20th of September and end on 25th of November! Ten-week courses starting from the week of the 20 th of September until the 25 th of November. Fees include a compulsory $5.00 Alliance Française membership for the remainder of the year and light snacks.
French for Kids Classes aimed at young children (4-7 years) having no or little knowledge of French. Method used: documents and activities devised or supplied by the teacher. Programme: a recreational approach (games, songs, physical and artistical activities) to raise the awareness of the younger ones to the French language. Afternoons, 3:30PM to 5PM, once a week Fees for 15 hours of classes: $125.00
French Initiation Classes aimed at pre-adolescents (8-11 years) having no or little knowledge of French. Method used : Alex et Zoé multimedia CDs Programme : An introduction to French language via games, songs and activities adapted to the needs of children. Afternoons, 3:30PM to 5PM, once a week Fees for 20 hours of classes : $165.00
Little Frenchies Classes aimed at French-speaking children (4-8 years). Method used: documents and activities devised or supplied by the teacher. Programme : a recreational approach (games, songs, physical and artistical activities) for French-speaking children. Afternoons, 3:30PM to 5PM, once a week Fees for 15 hours of classes: $125.00 Classes for teenagers (12-17 years) at various levels of French. Twelve-week courses starting from the week of the 6th of September until the 25th of November.
Fees include a compulsory $10 Alliance Française membership for the remainder of the year.

Advanced Adults 4 Classes aimed at persons having attended Advanced level 3 or studied French for about 325 hours. We have limited supplies and the text books are selling for 100 $. Please note that these books cover at least three levels of study. It is recommendable to purchase or order a copy as the Alliance Française will not be responsible for the photocopying of these books. You can however make arrangements to photocopy. A maximum of 90 $ refund will be given to those who wish to return their books at the end of the studies. This would however depend on the condition of the book upon its return.
Please note that the membership fee is mandatory and is for the year. This would allow students to use the library and borrow books. A refundable deposit of 30 $ is required for those who wish to borrow DVDs. Membership is a one-off fee for those who will be continuing studies for the remainder of the year. Those who are already members of the Alliance Française (i.e. financial for 2010), will pay the fees excluding membership.
All fees paid are non-refundable. Only in the case of the unavailability of the class registered by the student, we will refund 100% to the student. Only cheque payments will be made out. For genuine reasons whereby students are unable to continue their studies, you will be required to write in requesting for a refund and the Alliance Française will assess and pay-out only a percentage. This will totally depend on the reasons being stated. Discounts of 10% will be offered to continuing students (two consecutive terms in a year).
Classes aimed at adults having an intermediate or advanced level in French, or a minimum of 300 hours of French learning.
Duration: twelve weeks from the 6th of September Method used: original material provided by the teacher, or the students themselves if they wish. Programme: themes taken up during these conversation classes will be discussed at the beginning of the semester.
Evening classes, from 5:30PM to 7:00PM, once a week Fees for 18 hours of classes : $159.00
If the timetables, levels or programmes offered by the Alliance Française are not suitable for you, you can request private tuitions from the Alliance Française. Classes are normally held at the Alliance. We can also hold classes at your workplace, or even at your home (for an extra fee).
The first hour of private tuition costs $40; catching-up classes are at $30 per hour.
Beyond that first hour, we offer you the following package deals:

We offer French classes on specific topics (business French, tourism French...) within your own business.
Rates: $110 per hour + transport costs, negotiable.
What better way to learn and progess in French than to immerse yourself in a French-speaking environment? Each year, the Alliance Française tries to offer its students a linguistical stay of one week in New Caledonia, around October. Please contact your teacher for further details.
